Cuillin ridge picture chosen by ‘Let’s be Wild’ as their Photo of the Day

Dusk on the Cuillin Hills of Skye, North-West Highlands of Scotland (Colin Henderson)

It’s been a good week for me for Photos of the Day, as two separate companies, ‘Let’s be Wild‘ and ‘A Life Ascending‘, both chose pictures of mine as their Photo of the Day on 02 March 2012.

The above picture was posted on Let’s be Wild’s website. It was taken at dusk from the summit of the Munro, Luinne Bheinn, during a glorious week’s backpacking in Knoydart penninsula and shows the jagged ridge of the Isle of Skye’s Cuillin mountains on the horizon.

The day itself was a day of sunshine. We ascended a Corbett before breakfast – with great views from the Mam Suidheig - then followed the Aonach Sgoilte (split ridge) round to reach the summit of the Munro, Ladhar Bheinn. From there, we re-traced our steps, took time out to look down Loch Hourn, and finished our day walking up Luinne Bheinn and camping wild on the other side of the mountain at a high bealach.

The best thing about it? We still had two more days of backpacking to come.
